Lowered the 560 ohm resistor to 330 ohms in the bc108 fuzz… it had too much volume on tap. Also removed the q1 bias control and put a static 33k… every time I measured my setting it was somewhere between 30-35K so I figure stock is perfect. Added 100k input control to fill the space left by removing the q1 bias…

removed the ‘taming’ cap from the c-b of q1 on my hybrid fuzz… it’s a little dark… it used to be a silicon fuzz and that cap was useful, but as a hybrid fuzz face it doesn’t need the extra picofarads.

I play a strat (ej model 2 color sunburst) with amalfitano pickups into a dumble ods 124 clone.  My pedal board is a modded fulltone clyde > octavia > klon > low gain germanium fuzz (60/80hfe) > bc183 fuzz  > bc108 fuzz…  I have a pt2399 stlye delay and a tuner in the amp’s fx loop. I built reverb into the amp and I turn it on just enough so that I can hear hints of reverb.

I can get by with guitar+amp so sometimes when I’m feeling lazy i just do that and set a tuner on top of the amp lol but usually it goes something like this…

I either use the amp’s clean channel and one of the 3 fuzzes or else the amp’s overdrive channel by it’s self.

I use klon+clean channel for ”almost clean” solos.

I spend about half the night with nothing but amp clean + fuzz face, 25% of the night amp’s clean channel + klon and 25% of the night with just the amp’s dirty channel.

I kick on the octavia every once in a while.

I use the wah a lot.. it has an output buffer so it works well with the fuzz. I use a little bit of delay a lot.

These fuzzes sound great with this amp and I’m kind of addicted to them now… I used to have a twin reverb and it really didn’t work well with a fuzz face unless I set the amp’s controls for the fuzz… but then nothing else sounded right.

It’s awesome having all these years of blog in one place… There is lot’s of strange and funny stuff buried in those archives… like this post where I had built a new computer… not usable by todays standards… neat.

I’m still having some performance issues with wordpress but I’ll work on that today.
